Hobnails in strange places
Hobnail can take some of the stangest forms. It's in the imagination of the artist. The same goes for where you can also find hobnail, and it's in some of the stranges places.
You'll find them in the people who collect things gone by, or sometimes in hotels. You'll find lots of them in "cheap motels" as well. They bring a sense of fashion long since forgotton, at least to me, but when I see that small lamp made of pearly white hobnail, it brings me back home.

Hobnail can be used on anything. The bump is the classic design trademark of hobnail and chances are you've seen this design or seen it's design in many products.

I remember when I was a child growing up and going to visit my grandmother. She had many rare and beautiful forms of hobnail located throughout her home. My favorite was the hobnail candy dish that she was always sure to keep full of our favorite candy, for whenever we came over to visit. Even at a young age, I knew that this piece of unique glassware was something special. I actually enjoyed looking at the dish as much as I enjoyed the candy that it held. It just so happened that it was in the shape of a heart, which made it extra special on holidays such as Valentines Day. Today I am fortunate enough to still own this beautiful example of fine hobnail as my grandmother handed it down to me.
